IRR-Orlando’s Charles Lentz and Stephen Matonis honored by the Appraisal Institute

Two of our esteemed professionals at IRR-Orlando were recently honored at the 2014 Appraisal Institute Annual Meeting for their stellar performance and dedication to the appraisal field. Executive Director Charles Lentz, MAI, MRICS received the 2014 National Outstanding Service Award for his exceptional service and contribution to the Region X chapter of the Appraisal Institute, and President, Principal, and Managing Director Stephen Matonis, MAI, MRICS received the George L. Schmutz Award in recognition of his outstanding publication on real estate valuation: Applications in Litigation Valuation, A Pragmatist’s Guide.
Lentz and Matonis are both active members of the Appraisal Institute and represent the high quality of service and professionalism that IRR provides in support of our clients and our industry, nationwide and in the Caribbean. Integra Realty Resources-Orlando’s Charles Lentz and Stephen Matonis Receive Appraisal Institute Awards
Awards recognize outstanding contributions to the appraisal industry
ORLANDO, Fla.—August 12, 2014—The Appraisal Institute honored two members of Integra Realty Resources’ (IRR) Orlando office with distinguished awards of excellence at the 2014 Annual Meeting that took place Aug. 4-6 in Austin, Texas. Executive Director Charles Lentz, MAI, MRICS, was awarded the 2014 National Outstanding Service Award for Region X, recognizing his exceptional service and contribution to the regional chapter of the Appraisal Institute. President, Principal, and Managing Director Stephen Matonis, MAI, MRICS, received the George L. Schmutz Award for Region X, in recognition of his outstanding publication on real estate valuation: Applications in Litigation Valuation, A Pragmatist’s Guide, co-authored by Matonis and Jeffery A. Johnson, MAI of IRR’s Minneapolis office.

Lentz has over four decades of experience in real estate valuation and consulting, and has made significant contributions to the Appraisal Institute by serving as the Education Chairman for the East Central Florida chapter, and on the General Demonstration Appraisal Subcommittee. Lentz also helps other professionals advance in the industry by conducting writing seminars to assist industry peers in preparing comprehensive appraisal reports. Lentz has appraised a wide variety of property types, including shopping centers, restaurants, golf courses, office buildings, and all types of vacant land. He holds a master’s degree from Indiana State University and is a graduate of the Indiana Realtor Institute.
Matonis has been actively engaged in the real estate valuation and consulting industry since the 1970s, and has served the Appraisal Institute as Chief Reviewer and Development Team Chairman overseeing various litigation courses. He has also shared his expertise as a member of the Curriculum and Education subcommittees. Matonis specializes in litigation valuation and has performed appraisals on various property types including, but not limited to, single-family residential, apartment and condominium complexes, vacant and improved industrial, and commercial. Matonis earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Real Estate Florida Atlantic University.
Johnson has been an independent real estate appraiser since 1978 and specializes in litigation matters for commercial real estate appraisal, including condemnation, property taxation, and partnership disputes. He has previously won the George L. Schmutz Memorial Award in 2001 and is a frequent speaker at valuation seminars and conferences. Johnson has co-authored such publications as Practical Applications in Appraisal Valuation Modeling: Statistical Methods for Real Estate Practitioners; a leasehold interest valuation guide; and Shopping Center Appraisal and Analysis, 2nd edition.
