Student housing has been a viable investment since the tail-end of the Great Recession. At that time, enrollment at colleges and universities spiked, creating more demand for residence halls and off-campus housing. As the U.S. moved through the recovery, on-campus and off-campus properties provided investors with yield, even as enrollment dipped with job market growth.
